November 7, 2008 - First Press Grand Tasting at Hotel Valley Ho Friday
On Friday, November 7 Valley residents are invited to wine and dine at the 7th Annual First Press Weekend of Wine Grand Tasting event. This one-of-a-kind event, taking place at the Hotel Valley Ho from 6 – 9 p.m., is a wine tasting with over 100 award winning wines from around the globe, gourmet hors d’oeuvres and a “Food Fight” competition featuring the 2007 defending Champion Aaron May of Sol y Sombra.
Guests are invited to see what other tasty concoctions can be created with passed gourmet hors d’oeuvres in the courtyard and the “Food Fight” near the pool. While availability is limited, the penthouse suite has been reserved for VIP foodies to enjoy a progressive style dinner and paired wines. November 2, 2008 - The Olive Branch Fund Hosts “A Mighty Voice” Fundraiser at Phoenix Zoo
On Sunday, November 2 The Olive Branch Fund: A Thisbe and Noah Scott Legacy, a non-profit organization started by former Arcadia residents and Phoenix business owners, John and Laurian Scott, will be hosting “A Mighty Voice,” a multi-city fundraiser to raise awareness and fund research for pediatric motor neuron diseases (MNDs) at the Phoenix Zoo.
The fundraiser will include a two-mile walk through the Phoenix Zoo, a commemorative t-shirt for every walker, as well as an all-day zoo pass. It is through this, and other fundraisers throughout the nation that the Scott family hopes to create “A Mighty Voice” for all children affected by motor neuron diseases.

November 1, 2008 - The Seventh Annual “Night for Sight” Benefit Hosted by
Foundation for Blind Children at Mastro’s City Hall Steakhouse
The Foundation for Blind Children will host its seventh annual “Night for Sight” fundraiser at Mastro’s City Hall Steakhouse in Scottsdale, on Saturday, November 1st at 6:30 p.m. Now in its seventh year, “Night for Sight” has grown in popularity to become one of the Valley’s premier charity events, raising a record breaking $1,000,000 in 2007. This year, the Foundation for Blind Children will be honoring the Rich and Karie Dozer Family, an amazing family that has given so much to our community.
The evening will begin as guests are invited to indulge in an assortment of cocktails and a silent auction with intriguing, one-of-a-kind memorabilia. The celebration continues with an incredible dinner prepared by Mastro’s City Hall, a live auction, a $10,000 cash raffle, live entertainment by The Chadwick’s and special guest appearances! October 9 – 10, 2008 - Hispanic Women’s Corporation Hosts 23rd Hispanic Women’s Conference
The Hispanic Women's Corporation will be hosting the 23rd National Hispanic Women's Conference on October 9-10, 2008, at the Phoenix Convention Center. Originally established in 1981, HWC empowers Latina women by serving as an effective voice for the Hispanic community.
Since its inauguration, The Hispanic Women's Conference has grown in size to become the largest gathering of Latinas in the nation. The conference consists of business and community leaders, public officials and sponsoring organizations for two days of education, motivational presentations, panel discussions, forums and special events. Over the course of the two days, HWC provides the opportunity to learn from more than 50 renowned presenters who will address key topics in the areas of professional development, personal growth, wealth-building and solutions to social issues that Latinas face today. HWC also provides a Youth Leadership Institute for Latina high school students covering topics of college admissions, financial aid, careers and empowerment.

September 2 - September 21, 2008 Z’Tejas Southwestern Grill Hosts 4th Annual Chile Fest
Beginning Monday, September 2 and running through Sunday, September 21, Z'Tejas Southwestern Grill will be hosting Chile Fest '08. Valley residents are invited to tempt and test their taste buds with the various chile-infused dishes available on the Chile Fest menu offered at all four Valley locations. One dollar from every item on the menu, consisting of four entrees and a dessert, along with roasted chiles available for purchase, will benefit the Foundation for Blind Children, a local non-profit organization that serves as an essential resource for blind, visually impaired and multiply handicapped children, adults and their families throughout the Valley.
In order to not only give back to the community, but to local farmers as well, all chiles used during the twenty-day Chile Fest were purchased from local Valley farmers at Crooked Sky Farms in Glendale, Arizona.
The Chile Fest menu will also include Chipotle Peachy Raspberry Chocolate Torte with Cinnamon Vanilla whipped cream, the winning dessert from Valley resident Michel Wall who competed against other local chefs in the 2008 Chile Fest Dessert Contest in July. August 16, 2008 - The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation “AZ’s FINEST”
On Saturday, August 16, 2008, The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will host their Tenth Annual AZ’s FINEST Event at The Ritz Carlton in Phoenix. The event will spotlight 20 single businessmen and women from across the Valley. The class of 2008 AZ’s FINEST will be recognized as influential trendsetters, honoring their professional and charitable accomplishments. The 2008 class of honorees exemplify strong leadership qualities, are active in volunteer roles and have excelled in the Arizona business community.
The evening, hosted by ABC 15’s Katie Raml, will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction. Dinner will start at 7:30 p.m. followed by the honoree showcase.

July 29, 2008 - Ortiz Family Foundations sponsors Back to School Event for
Sunshine Acres Children's Home
Approximately 75 children from Sunshine Acres Children's Home will get the
chance to "shop 'til they drop" for school supplies on July 29, 2008 at The
Wal-Mart Super Center, located at 4505 East McKellips Road in Mesa,
compliments of the Ortiz Family Foundation.
The Ortiz Family Foundation, founded by Major League Baseball Player and
former Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher, Russ Ortiz, and his family, will host
the O.F.F. to School Field Day to encourage excitement for the new 2008-2009
school year. All of the children currently living at Sunshine Acres will
receive $150 each from the Foundation to help make certain they get the
necessary back to school supplies and clothing. Additionally, Wal-Mart Super
Center will donate $2,000, increasing each child's spending amount to $175,
and provide breakfast for all event participants

Fay Ann Lee, writer/director of the Cinderella story Falling for Grace, is beginning to feel a bit like Cinderella herself. An audience favorite at the Phoenix Film Festival, Falling for Grace is going hand in hand with Lee to a ball – the Charity Gala Opening of Harkins’ newest Phoenix theater, Norterra 14, this Thursday, April 17 beginning at 6:30pm. Dan Harkins has selected Lee’s film to open in their brand new, state-of-the-art theater to a sold-out crowd of 400. Proceeds of the gala will benefit the Deer Valley Education Foundation.

March 28, 2008 – 3rd Annual Bertrand Berry Celebrity
Weekend
On Friday, March 28th and Saturday, March 29th, The Bertrand Berry Foundation
will host the 3rd Annual Bertrand Berry Celebrity Weekend, benefiting Childhelp,
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Mable Dean Scholarship Fund. Golfers,
philanthropists and Valley VIPs are invited to wine, dine and mingle with the
stars at this celebrity-studded weekend, featuring a Celebrity Golf Tournament
and “Island Paradise” Gala at the J.W. Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa and a

March 19, 2008 – Foundation for Blind Children Sneak
Preview of "Blindsight”
On Wednesday, March 19 the Foundation for Blind Children will be hosting a sneak peek of the movie “Blindsight”, set to
premiere nationally Friday, March 21. The movie stars world-class adventurer, Erik Weihenmayer, the only blind man in
history to reach the summit of Mount Everest, as he and Sabriye Tenberken of Braille Without Borders, take six blind
Tibetan students on a climb of the Rombuk Glacier on the north side of Mt. Everest.
“Blindsight” is the documentary of their journey and ascent to the top, where they’ll proudly stand together at 21,500
feet, higher than any team of blind people in history.
The premiere, taking place at the Celebrity Theatre, will include a private cocktail reception preceding the premiere,
which is to be followed by a Q & A session with Erik Weiehenmayer and Sabriye Tenberken and Paul Kronenberg of Braille

March 7, 2008 – 2008 Spirit of Life Award Dinner
The Arizona Construction Alliance will honor Walt Brown, Jr., founding
principal, CEO and designated broker of Diversified Partners, LLC at its 2008
Spirit of Life Award Dinner. Hosted by Katie Raml and Steve Irvin of ABC 15, the
dinner will take place at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa, on Friday, March 7,

February 6, 2008 -- National Letter of Intent Event at Majerle’s Sports Grill

December 11, 2007 – Fascinations “Giving Tree” Benefits Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
Fascinations shoppers will have the chance to give to a great cause during their next visit to the leading educational romance retailer this holiday season. From now until December 31, 2007, each Fascinations store will proudly display a festively decorated tree to help make the community aware of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the disease which they are tirelessly seeking a cure.
Shoppers will have the opportunity to make contributions in the amount of $1, $2 and $5 toward the Arizona Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. With each donation made this holiday season, Fascinations will automatically match the donation made through the Giving Tree.
The Giving Tree is a lavishly decorated tree that includes ornaments allowing shoppers to make financial contributions to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation through Fascinations. December 8, 2007 – Ortiz Family Foundation “Celebrity Rock-n-Bowl Bash”
Russ Ortiz and other celebrity friends will be bowling to raise money for the
Ortiz Family Foundation. On December 8, 2007 at the Brunswick Via Linda Lanes in

November 30 – December 22, 2007 - Valley Youth Theatre to Collect Stuffed Animals for Operation Noah
For a third year, Valley Youth Theatre is working with Operation Noah to collect new stuffed animals which will eventually find a friend in a local pediatric ward. Youngsters attending Valley Youth Theatre’s 12th anniversary production of A Winnie the Pooh Christmas Tail are being asked to bring a new stuffed animal with them to donate to kids who won’t be able to be up and around this holiday season. Operation Noah, a 501(c)3 non-profit, was founded by Chandler teen Dennis Fries in 2004 who, after undergoing medical testing, became aware of the need for providing something to comfort children during their hospital stay. This year Valley Youth Theatre hopes to exceed last year’s collection of nearly 2000 stuffed animals with the help of Valley residents.
November 8, 2007 - Arizona Diamondbacks “Uniform Redesign Launch”
The Arizona Diamondbacks will shed their skin, so to speak, on Wednesday, November 8th at 6pm, when they reveal the team’s new, revamped Sedona Red and Sonoran Sand uniforms and logo during an invitation-only celebrity fashion show. For one night only, selected members from the D-backs roster, such as, second baseman Orlando Hudson, shortstop Stephen Drew, catcher Chris Snyder and outfielder Eric Byrnes, will trade in their gloves and baseball caps to model the never-before-seen team attire. Female models will accompany the athletes on the catwalk with hair and make up styled by Rolf’s Salon. National and local A-list celebrities will be treated to a red carpet entrance as well as music and cocktails throughout the evening. November 3, 2007 – Foundation for Blind Children’s “Night for Sight”
“Night for Sight,” a fundraising event to benefit the Foundation for Blind
Children, is a one-of-a-kind dining experience held Saturday, November 3 at 6:30
p.m. The festivity, which includes fine dining, auctions, raffles and music will
return to Mastro’s City Hall Steakhouse (formerly Drinkwater’s City Hall). Ken
Kendrick, owner of the Arizona Diamondbacks and long time friend of the
Foundation received the first annual Visionary Award in 2006. This year’s
honoree, John Langbein, President of Ticket Exchange, will be honored for his
spirited support of children and adults who are blind and visually impaired.

November 2 – November 3, 2007 -- Valley’s Top Designers Compete in IFDA’s “Home for the Holidays”
The International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA), Arizona Chapter, in cooperation with the Arizona Design Center, Western Interiors & Design Magazine and Bed Bath & Beyond, will host “Home for the Holidays,” a lavish tablescaping and tree decorating competition from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2 and Saturday, Nov. 3 at the Arizona Design Center.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Ballet Arizona’s Angel Night Program, which enables more than 2,000 underprivileged children and their families from local social service agencies to attend Ballet Arizona’s The Nutcracker holiday ballet on December 6, 2007.

September 29 – November 2, 2007 -- The Revenant Haunted Attraction Opens at Fiesta Mall
The fully interactive, immersive, and terrifying experience known as The Revenant Haunted Attraction is coming to the Westcor Fiesta Mall in Mesa, Arizona this fall, September 29 through November 2, 2007. Featuring two fully themed experiences – The Revenant and The Chamber – The Revenant Haunted Attraction will require participants to solve the mystery of an ancient evil society (known as the Benandanti) while exploring 34 chilling locations spread over 20,000 square feet.
The Revenant Haunted Attraction is the first completely interactive haunted attraction in Arizona, and requires each participant to interact with the terrifying environments in the haunt. These environments incorporate Hollywood-style lighting, set decoration, sound and visual effects with over 40 live actors.
September 27, 2007 -- Revenant Haunted Attraction Hosts VIP Media Appreciation Night
On Thursday, September 27 from 7 to 10 pm Revenant Haunted Attraction will host a VIP Media Appreciation Night for members of the press and their families. Guests (age 10 and older) are invited to attend and to experience the thrills! September 18, 2008 – Ortiz Family Foundation Sponsors Back to School Event for Thomas J Pappas Middle School
Approximately 200 children from the Thomas J. Pappas Middle School will get the chance to “shop ‘til they drop” for school supplies on September 18 at The Wal-Mart Super Center, located at 3721 E. Thomas in Phoenix, compliments of the Ortiz Family Foundation.
The Ortiz Family Foundation, founded by current San Francisco Giants pitcher and former AZ D-Backs pitcher, Russ Ortiz, and his family, is hosting the O.F.F. to School Field Day to encourage excitement for the beginning of the new 2007-2008 school year. The Ortiz Family Foundation is donating $30,000 to the students at the Thomas J Pappas School for this day of shopping. Each year the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF), Arizona Chapter, honors 20
single men and women across the Valley as AZ’s FINEST. The AZ’s FINEST Campaign

– Valley Youth Theatre’s “Sponsor a Seat”
Since 1996, nearly 5,000 disadvantaged youth from all over the valley have
participated in Valley Youth Theatre’s Sponsor-A-Seat program. This event gave

experience the magic of live theatre. Youth who came from broken homes, domestic
violence, physical disabilities and poverty. Through this special program,
disadvantaged and at-risk children representing over 20 social service

special matinee performance of the June 21, 2007 production of Disney’s HIGH
SCHOOL MUSICAL, performed at the grand Herberger Theatre, followed by lunch with
the cast and crew. Last year, over 650 children enjoyed a special performance of
